Abstract: Digital tracking is a method for asteroid searches that greatly increases the sensitivity of any telescope. While it is not original to us, we are the first to develop and use it to detect large numbers of new faint asteroids from the ground. We describe details of our implementation, challenges and their solutions, and the current state of our results. Digital tracking has the potential to revolutionize searches for faint moving objects, including Kuiper Belt objects, main belt asteroids, near-earth objects, and even anthropogenic space debris in low Earth orbit. Our results show that there are no serious obstacles to its large-scale implementation. Full poster download options:| pdf | Abstract on ADS| |
